About
Jenna Brixius is a flutist, music educator, and certified Alexander Technique teacher based in New York City. A passionate teacher, Jenna founded her private flute lesson studio in 2011 and dedicated her career to helping musicians of all ages creatively explore the principles underlying tone, air use, and instrumental virtuosity. She has performed with the Palm Beach Symphony, the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and the Florida Wind Symphony, in addition to freelance performances including the Legend of Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses Orchestra and a special chamber orchestra concert accompanying the legendary Stevie Wonder.
Jenna has taught as interim flute faculty at the Mannes School of Music Pre-College program (Mannes Prep), as well as flute and chamber music classes at the Querflöte Musikkurswochen in Switzerland. Jenna has also taught orchestral woodwind sectionals, Intro to Music Theory courses, and instrumental technique classes as an Artist-in-Residence in programs across the country.
She enjoys working with individuals and groups of all ages and backgrounds. Whether Alexander Technique lessons are to support your technical development in a craft or navigate pain and discomfort, Jenna is willing to meet you wherever you are with compassion and support. A graduate of the Balance Arts Center Teacher Training Program, Jenna received her Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory of Music as a student of Michel Debost, former principal flute of the Orchestra de Paris.
