Alice Olsher was born in Evanston Illinois and grew up in Hollywood, California.
She studied creative dramatics from 5 years old with her mother Laura Olsher (who had studied with Winifred Ward.)
Alice studied acting and singing both privately and at Hollywood High and Los Angeles City College.
At 18 she moved to London where she continued singing in church choirs, something she had done from 14 in Hollywood. In 1972 Alice went to The Drama Studio where she met The Alexander Technique.
After leaving The Drama Studio she worked in many jobs on stage and back stage as well as in a hospital setting .
Then in 1987 Alice joined Walter and Dilys Carrington’s Constructive Teaching Centre where she trained to teach, qualifying in 1990.
After qualifying Alice spent 15 years teaching with the Carrington’s then returned to California in 2005 and started her own training course. She guest teaches in London when she is there.
She works with performers, pregnant couples, and has worked in a Medical Clinical setting.
Alice hosted the ACGM in 2017, and gave the Memorial lecture in 2024.
Alice is Director of Alexander Technique Teacher Training in San Diego. She works with teachers doing post graduate work and is hoping to form another group for training teachers.
