About

Anne Shivas is a senior teacher of the Alexander Technique. She is a published poet, an exhibited photographer, dancer and choreographer. Pain from subtle postural misalignment led her to the technique over thirty years ago. She trained with Shmuel Nelken in Jerusalem in the early 1990’s where she lived for eleven years. Her first degree from Edinburgh had a specialization in dance and philosophy and she has an MA in Philosophy of Education from London University. The deep understanding of psychophysical unity embodied in the technique, how the mind and the body influence each other, and respond to experiential learning, brings together her interests in mind and movement. The Technique helps us develop more physical and mental freedom. Anne continues to explore Analytical Psychology and her approach is richly informed by the work on Archetypal patterns of C.G. Jung. She has an MFA in poetry and works in both Scotland and Vermont.
