Fanny Wyrick-Flax is an AmSAT-certified Alexander Technique teacher. She teaches Alexander Technique at The Juilliard School and maintains a private teaching studio in New York City. 

The Alexander Technique is an educational method that helps people to identify unhelpful habits and make conscious choices in thought and movement. Through gentle touch and verbal guidance, Alexander Technique can help prevent pain and injury, cultivate free and easy movement, and access greater calm.

Fanny’s work helps people to access efficiency, coordination, and confidence in their daily lives. Drawing from her background as a conservatory-trained flutist, Fanny often works with performing artists to address and prevent performance-related injuries, cultivate openness and curiosity in the practice room, and tap into balanced fluidity and resonance on stage.

In 2023, Fanny joined the faculty of The Juilliard School, where she teaches Alexander Technique courses for musicians in the College Division and in the Preparatory Division. Fanny also serves as Assistant Faculty at the Riverside Initiative for the Alexander Technique. She has given presentations, workshops, and masterclasses in the Alexander Technique at New England Conservatory, SUNY Stony Brook Music Department, Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, The New York Flute Fair, Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival, Marymount School of New York, Pianophoria!, Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, Washington Heights Youth Orchestra, Midori Summer Lab, and the Sapientia Center’s AT for All series. Fanny was also an Assistant Faculty member in Alexander Technique at Manhattan School of Music and at The Fordham Theatre Program. (See below for a full list of past events.)

Fanny attended the Riverside Initiative for the Alexander Technique, a three-year 1600-hour training course approved by the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT). She trained with Nanette Walsh, Lori Schiff, Caren Bayer, Ariel Carson, Rebecca Tuffey, Bill Connington, Eleanor Taylor, Kristin Mozeiko, Peggy Florin, and Robin Schiff.

Fanny teaches private lessons in New York City on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
