Joe Schaefer has been both a private instructor and workshop facilitator in the Alexander Technique for over a decade. He graduated in 2015 from Baltimore’s Alexander Technique Mid-Atlantic Teacher Training Program under the direction of Wendy Salkind and Nancy Wanich-Romita. Additionally he has worked with Louise Andrews, Nancy Bittinger, Malcolm Balk, Robert Bedford, Melissa Freilich, Mary Hamlin-Spencer, Mark Josefsberg, Sarah Ittmann Leite, Brooke Lieb, Roberto Mainetti, Frank McNellis, Betsy Payne, Richard Pilcher, Jerri-Lynn Pilarski, Wen Pickering and Sandy Wigler.

Previously, Joe has served on faculty at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and as an integrative medicine expert with UPMC's Center for Integrative Medicine. Past presentations and partnerships include the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Penn State Health, Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute, Shippensburg University, Lebanon Valley College, Messiah University, Bloomsburg University, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Cumberland Valley School of Music, Carlisle Bowen Works and Simply Well. 

Joe's bodywork background includes the Alexander Technique, Bowen Technique, Craniosacral Therapy and Functional Awareness®. He particularly enjoys working with musicians, performing artists, and athletes and can be found out and about rock climbing, swimming or making music.
