About

Paula maintains a teaching practice in Austin, where she trained at the Alexander Moving Arts Centre (ATMA) and was certified in 2012. She enjoys teaching the Technique to students of all backgrounds and observing them achieve enhanced awareness, decreased tension and pain, and greater ease in movement in their everyday and special activities and performance. Her own experience of working with chronic neck and back pain has given Paula a helpful perspective and insight in working with students who are challenged with chronic pain issues.

While training as an Alexander Technique teacher, she returned to dance and performance after a hiatus of many decades. Performing while studying the Technique gave her the opportunity to see the role the Technique can play in allowing freedom and clarity in movement and creativity. Paula has presented the Alexander Technique to a variety of audiences, including actors, musicians, equestrians, and corporate events, and assisted in the Alexander Technique teacher training program at ATMA.

She is a student of Tango and Tai Chi, two practices that give her the opportunity to continue to explore the possibilities of movement and expression informed by the principles of the Technique. Paula graduated from St. John’s College in Santa Fe and is a member of the American Society for the Alexander Technique. She is available for private lessons, workshops and presentations.
